February is CTE (Career and Technical Education) month. Kansas Career and Technical Education prepares students for a wide range of work, training and educational opportunities. CTE develops real-world employability skills, connects students to workforce applications, promotes postsecondary degrees and certifications and introduces students to industry partners. Marysville High School has eight CTE pathways and they are:
Biomedical
Business Finance
Comprehensive Agriculture Science
Digital Media
Family, Community & Consumer Services (FACS)
Plant Systems

In case you weren’t aware, the Wichita Community Foundation has assembled a variety of scholarships that are available to your students! Each scholarship has various criteria, but there’s something there for everyone! Here is the link to access and apply: https://wichitacf.org/scholarships/available-scholarships
Note: Some of these apply to community colleges, vocational and tech schools, seminary, etc, not just universities!
Students (Grades 8 - 11) please continue to fill out your course planners in Xello for next years enrollment. You will need to have these tentatively filled out and printed off by Feb. 10 so that your parents can look over them at parent/teacher conferences. Then you will have until Feb. 21 to submit your finalized class choices. If you need any help please stop and ask Mrs. Behrens.
Students attending K-State: Please consider completing the K-state Scholarship network (KSN) application by Feb. 15. By doing so, you will be considered for academic college, departmental, and University Foundation awards. Students will be notified following the deadline later in the spring semester if they will be receiving a scholarship from their KSN submission. The application, instructions and additional resources for completion can be found at www.k-state.edu/sfa/aid/scholarships/ksn/
Seniors:
The 2020 KACRAO Scholarship information is now available for applicants at https://www.kacrao.org/kacrao-scholarship
Four $500 awards are available, which may be used at KACRAO member institutions (one per school type: four-year public, four-year private, community college, and technical college). The awards are not need-based and may be used in conjunction with other awards.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 15, 2020. Successful award recipients will be notified in May and posted on the KACRAO website.
Emporia State University Applicants: If you applied to Emporia State University and were accepted there will be a rep in the media center that wants to go over additional information with you. Please plan on attending Feb. 6 @ 9: 15.
Wichita State:
Black & Yellow Day is a program geared towards high school juniors and seniors (although freshmen and sophomores are welcome). These are all-day events on campus where students and guests have the chance to participate in sessions hosted by each academic college, tour campus, and explore the hands-on learning opportunities available at WSU; think of it like an open house!
We have two Black & Yellow Day programs this semester on Monday, February 17 and Friday, April 17 and would love for your students to join us!
The event is $15 per student and $5 per guest, and includes lunch in Shocker Hall Dining plus a Shocker t-shirt!
If you know of any students who should attend this event, they can register at Wichita.edu/Visit and click on "Admissions Events". You can also click here for the February 17 event and click here for the April 17 event. I have also attached a pdf of our postcard, if you wanted to share.
Community In Schools:
Students can get their taxes done for FREE through Susie Latta, Extension Office, beginning February 5th. You can call her office at 785-562-3531 to schedule an appointment.
